In what some are describing as "a betrayal most foul, Estrian Prosis of ITAN made an assassination attempt on a high ranking member of the Phoenix Alliance. Phoenix Alliance is not releasing the name of the pilot, just that he is a member of the high council. Early reports indicate that two days ago, while on escort duty Phoenix Alliance pilot came under attack by the very convoy he was escorting. The ensuing fire fight left the Phoenix Alliance pilot with less than seven percent of his ships armor intact. In the heat of the seven on one battle, the pilot did not think anything of the Valk X-1 piloted by Estrian Prosis a council member of ITAN as it slipped in behind him. "Hell, I thought maybe the guys was going to lend a hand, after all it was Estrian himself that approached PA looking to be made a member of any PA/ITAN diploboard [board of diplomats]. Not to mention Sagiv Kor himself was looking for an alliance." It soon became obvious that help was the farthest thing from the ITAN pilots mind, as he opened fire on the Phoenix Alliance pilots crippled and having run out of ammo... unarmed ship. The pilot suffered burns, cuts and abrasions from his ship exploding. He is however expected to make a full recovery. Xang Xi officials had this to say when asked why the convoy he was escorting would have attacked him. "Well, the pilot who fired the first shots was young and inexperienced. As near as we can tell, the escort pilots ship may have bumped into his and it seems he mistook that for a hostile act and opened fire. I cannot stress enough that our pilots are highly trained, it was just a clerical error that this newer pilot was even on the mission." Phoenix Alliance officials had no on the record comments for UAN but one source said that all options are being considered and that this assassination attempt will not go unanswered. Another source speaking on the condition of anonymity said... "Maybe this is their way of saying, 'this is what happens to those who refuse ITAN'... maybe its like the old earth mafia and they are trying to make us an offer we can't refuse." Yet another source said... "ITAN has to understand that Phoenix-Alliance is a multi-national guild, and if they want us as allies, they need to respect ALL of our members no matter what nation they hail from." At this point it appears that a PA/ITAN alliance is off the table, citing ITANs apparent inability to control its more over zealous pilots. When asked for comment on the situation, Estrian Prosis had this to say... "I'd be very careful what you post to that site, little whiner. I don't care how high you are in the council. I think I found my reason for Ryan to be KOS. " He then proceeded to launch into a long and rambling series of insults, slanders and personal attacks, much of which was incoherent or focusing on smaller point in an effort to divert attention from his actions. |
Benerrandis of HAWK was once a peaceful man. He flew an Atlas on trade runs between Sol II and Edras. When he could not find trade, he would while away the time mining or spending time in places frequented by traders affiliated with The Guild of Free Traders [TGFT] and the Phoenix-Alliance [PA], listening to their tales of high adventure. His only ambition in life was to join TGFT and become the best trader he could be. He thought he would be accepted for certain as he was one of the few traders who openly traded in Grey Space, but TGFT was unimpressed by his low licenses and suggested he get them higher. Over the course of the next several weeks, he doubled his trade routes and even engaged and was victorious in combat against both Vyske and FusionBurn of the Cargo Liberation Movement. A TGFT pilot told him that was a good start, but if he really wanted to impress them... than he should win a fight against Retractile, CLM's ace combat pilot. He sought out Ret and engaged... and very quickly realized he was no match for the veteran pilot. In the end, however his application to TGFT was rejected and he had earned the enmity of CLM. He realized he needed protection. Thats when Peytros came into his life. "Pey came to me and explained that he had a guild of mercenaries and that the needed logistical support as well. My role in HAWK was simple, I brought in supplies. Peytros gave me the money to buy a Behemoth XC and 50 million for supplies. Before long, I was hauling flares and AAPs down to our base in Sedina. It was great, I didn't have to worry about pirates cause HAWK had an NAP with them. I knew that a lot of people didn't like Peytros or K'metreq but, I kept hearing that even guilds that didn't like him were contracting work out to him. Life was pretty good. HAWK was like a family Peytros was sort of like an outlaw father figure to us, K'met was that uncle that you never talk about but were alway happy to see. Then, something happened. I heard it all started as a fight between Peytros and a member of a guild that was in negotiations with us for our services. Peytrs told us it was not a big deal, because he and the person in question had never gotten on well. Then one day PA, ORE, TGFT, ITAN and SKV had declared war on HAWK! At first it wasn't anything big... a few battles with Peytros, then it was multi guild hit squads... and even then, more often then not Peytros was the one who survived. Later the uninted guilds started attacking our younger pilots like myself, Danica and Dameos. Peytros tried his best to protect us... he pleaded with our enemies, that if they had a problem with him... to fight him, not his new pilots with licenses so low most were flying ECs or Revenants. The other guilds didn't listen. Danica was ambushed bringing refugee relief to the border, she's a cripple now. She can't even feed herself. Peytros pays her medical bills. Dameos, he was a great guy... a programmer and engineer. He spent hours on our ships, making sure they were as good as they could be. He ended up leaving HAWK but the the attacks kept coming. One day he couldn't take it any more. He raised his Ineubis blaster to his temple and said... 'When troubles come, they come not in single spies but whole battalions'... and he blew his brains all over the Sedina bartender that was pouring his drinks. I think Falcor is still around but he was with Dameos when he killed himself. He hasn't been right since then. Most of the others are dead or insane now. When you contacted me for the interview, you asked if I wanted revenge. I don't... I want justice for my friends, for the only family I ever knew. But, I know I won't ever get justice. In a universe where over three hundred people team up to murder seventeen people most of which are traders... (Peytros and K'metreq did all the combat, at least until our enemies brought genocide to our door step)... there is no justice, only death. So now its just me, the sole surviving member of HAWK. I do what I can. So far, I've only killed twenty or so enemy pilots but, that number will continue to rise. I see an enemy and I kill them or lose a ship trying to, and I do it with honor. I extend to them the courtesy they never extended to HAWK... I hail them with my intent and I fire a warning shot. I want them to know they are about to die. I want them to know who is killing them and I want them to know why. Its slow going, but I have nothing but time and patience and hatred."

UIT peace keeping forces are reporting that the Hive seems to have evolved yet again. The newest incarnation of the Hive seems to be placing more importance on defense as well as offensive strategy. Fighter pilots from all nations have confirmed that Queens and Leviathans seem to have greater numbers of more aggressive robots defending them as well as a frighteningly effective new shield system. It is also reported that the Hive is spreading faster and with greater numbers. Several pilots have even reported seeing various Hives fighting each other over the same resources. UIT scientists in cooperation with Serco Military Research have convened a joint mission to study this new development and decide how to best deal with it before the Hive grows to powerful.
